BP Biofuels Chief Calls Biofuels “The New Oil” as Advanced Biofuels Leadership Conference Opens
In the Opening Address at the Advanced Biofuels Leadership Conference in Washington, BP Biofuels CEO Philip New said that advanced biofuels “will require partnerships if it is to succeed,” but described biofuels as “the new oil, created from unlimited sources of frees biomass rather than the limited fossil resources of biomass.”...
...More than 200 industry leaders, representing more than 80 percent of planned advanced biofuels capacity, are attending the Advanced Biofuels Leadership conference this week in Washington. Among other speakers yesterday, ZeaChem CEO Jim Imbler, Ineos Bio COO Mark Niedershulte, and a panel on biofuels financing led by Burrill & Company managing director John Hamer and including Flagship Ventures MD David Berry, and Tom Halvorsen and Doug Cameron of Piper Jaffray.
